The SMS Sosnowiec ( Szkoła Mistrzostwa Sportowego ) is a Polish ice hockey academy of the Polish ice hockey association PZHL from Sosnowiec , which was founded in 1994. The first team has been back in the Ekstraliga since 2015 .
history
The ice hockey academy in Sosnowiec was founded in 1994 by the Polish ice hockey association PZHL . The students are selected according to strict criteria and only the 15 to 20 best ice hockey players of each year are given the opportunity to visit the academy. From 1994 to 1998, the first team of SMS Sosnowiec took part in the Ekstraliga , the highest Polish division. Since then, the team has competed in the second-class I league , in which the academy's second team also plays. Since 2015 the first team has played again (out of competition) in the Ekstraliga.
