Polski Związek Hokeja na Lodzie (PZHL) (Polish Ice Hockey Federation) is the national ice hockey federation of Poland based in Warsaw - Śródmieście . Around 3800 players are members of the umbrella organization, which is divided into seven district associations. The current president is Mirosław Minkina.
history
At the beginning of the 1920s, the first separate departments for ice hockey were founded in Warsaw clubs. The association itself was founded on February 22nd, 1925 in Warsaw and on January 11th, 1926 accepted into the International Ice Hockey Federation . He is one of the IIHF full members. The ice hockey world championships of 1931 in Krynica and 1976 in Katowice were organized by the association. The greatest successes of the men's national team include winning the silver medal at the 1929 European ice hockey championship in Budapest , fourth place at the 1931 World Cup at home (second in the final ranking of the EM ) and fourth place at the 1932 Olympic ice hockey tournament in Lake Placid .
In 1994 the PZHL founded the Szkoła Mistrzostwa Sportowego Polskiego Związku Hokeja na Lodzie sports high school in Sosnowiec . The first team of SMS Sosnowiec took part in the Ekstraliga and the I league .
tasks
The association mainly takes care of the implementation of the games of the Polish national ice hockey team as well as the women's national team and the junior teams. The association also organizes games at club level, including in the Polska Hokej League .
