The Federação Portuguesa de Desportos no Gelo ( FPDG , German: Portuguese Ice Sports Association) is the national ice hockey association of Portugal . It is based in Barcarena in the Oeiras district , near the capital Lisbon .
116 active players lead the FPDG, 18 women and 50 youth players. (As of August 2015)
history
The association was founded in Lisbon in 1998 and became part of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) on May 13, 1999 . The association is one of the associated members of the IIHF and therefore has no voting rights in its general assembly. The current president is Mauricio de Oliveira Xavier.
activities
The association mainly takes care of the implementation of the games of the Portuguese national ice hockey team and the Portuguese ice hockey league .
