The Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF) is the umbrella organization for Portuguese football clubs . It was founded in 1914 and is based in Lisbon . In 1923 the FPF joined FIFA and in 1954 UEFA . The current association president has been Fernando Soares Gomes da Silva since December 2011 . In 2004 the FPF hosted the European Football Championship .

Competitions

The Portuguese Cup winners and the championship of the amateur leagues will be held under the direction of the FPF . The championship rounds of the professional leagues are organized together with the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional . Furthermore, the FPF is the official organizer of the national futsal (indoor football), women and junior competitions, as well as the umbrella organization of the official national teams.
