history

The first sailing regatta in Portugal was organized on the Tejo River in 1850 at the suggestion of the British living there . In 1855, King Pedro V founded the Real Associação Naval , the first nautical association on the Iberian Peninsula , and from which the present-day Associação Naval de Lisboa (English: Ship and Sailing Association of Lisbon) emerged.
