The Federação Portuguesa de Taekwondo ( FPTKD ) is the umbrella organization for Taekwondo in Portugal . Its headquarters are at Rua dos Correeiros number 221, in the Lisbon municipality of São Nicolau .
The FPTKD is a member u. a. in the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), founding member of the European Taekwondo Union (ETU), the Portuguese sports umbrella organization Confederação do Desporto de Portugal , and member of the Comité Olímpico de Portugal , the National Olympic Committee of Portugal.
The FPTKD maintains its center of excellence ( Centro de Alto Rendimento ) in Vila Nova de Gaia .
history
Taekwondo came to Portugal in 1974 when Grand Master David Chung Sun Yong introduced the sport to the Sporting Clube de Portugal . Today it is practiced in 140 Taekwondo schools in the country. (As of September 2015) .
The FPTKD was founded in Lisbon in 1992.

The president is José Luís Resende Ferreira e Sousa (as of September 2015) . The FPTKD is organized into seven departments:
