The district of Beja is a district in southern Portugal . It belonged to the former province of Baixo Alentejo . It is bordered to the north by the Évora district , to the east by Spain , to the south by the Faro district and to the west by the Setúbal district and the Atlantic Ocean. It covers an area of ​​10,225 km², making it the largest district in the country. It has a population of 152,758 (as of 2011). Its capital is Beja . License plate for trailers: BE .
