The Évora District , Distrito do Évora , is a district in Portugal that was part of the traditional Alto Alentejo Province . The district is bordered by the Santarém and Portalegre districts to the north, Spain to the east, the Beja district to the south and the Setúbal district to the west . Area: 7393 km². Population (2001): 173,408. The capital of the district is Évora . License plates for trailers: E .

According to the current main division of the country, the district is part of the Alentejo region and almost identical to the sub-region Alentejo Central , which is completed by the district ( concelho ) Sousel from the Portalegre district , while Mora is assigned to the Alto Alentejo sub-region .
