history

After the Carnation Revolution in 1974, the first association for Full Contact was founded in Portugal in 1975 (today K-1 ). The Associação Portuguesa de Full-Contact organized the first national championships and first international participations in 1977.

With the further development of sport, the demands on the association also changed. On January 25, 1988, a new umbrella organization was founded with the Federação Portuguesa de Kickboxing e Full-Contact (FPKF). With the start of public subsidies for the association in 1990, it was able to expand its structures and consolidate its work. From 1993 the FPKF took on clubs as members, and the previously independent karate association Federação Portuguesa de Karaté-Contact was integrated. In the same year the FPKF became a member of the World Kickboxing Association (WKA).

In 1995 the FPKF became a member of the Portuguese umbrella organization of Portuguese sports federations CDP ( Confederação do Desporto de Portugal ). In 1996 the state recognized the public benefit as Instituição de Utilidade Pública Desportiva , which gave the association further growth impulses and scope for action. In the same year, the Portuguese Olympic Committee also recognized kickboxing. This makes Portugal one of the first countries to include kickboxing in the Olympic movement.

The new rules for referees and new competition guidelines (both in 1998) and the systematic anti-doping controls from 1999 were further milestones of the association up to the renaming in Federação Portuguesa de Kickboxing in 2002. a. with remuneration models for international medal wins.
