The Federação Portuguesa de Hóquei ( FPH ) is the umbrella organization for hockey in Portugal . It was founded in Lisbon on June 9, 1948 and is now based at number 961 on Avenida Dr. Antunes Guimarães , in Porto .

The headquarters in Porto

The FPH belongs u. a. the world federation Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH), the European continental federation European Hockey Federation (EHF) and the Comité Olímpico de Portugal , the National Olympic Committee of Portugal.

In the twelve member clubs of the FPH, 1838 active players of different age groups are registered, 597 of them female and 1241 male players.

activities

The FPH is responsible for field hockey, indoor hockey, beach hockey and handicapped hockey in Portugal.

The association looks after the various national teams and organizes various competitions, including in particular the field hockey championship ( Campeonato Nacional de Hóquei de Campo ) for women and men. The women of Sport CP from Porto celebrated their third championship in a row in 2015, while the men of AD Lousada from Lousada became champions for the eighth time. The club also qualified several times internationally, most recently for the Euro Hockey Challenge I 2014/15 .

The top cup competition for women ( Taça de Portugal Seniores Femininos ) and men ( Taça de Portugal Seniores Masculinos ) is also part of it, the finals of which usually take place in the Estádio Nacional in Jamor ( Oeiras district ). In 2014, the women of Sport CP won their third trophy, while the men of AD Lousada won the trophy for the fourth time.

For its 50th anniversary in 1998, the association organized the Gala do Hóquei for the first time in the Casino de Espinho . The event has been held annually at changing venues since 2009. At the media-supported gala evening, the FPH honors outstanding personalities in hockey in Portugal.

Since 2010, the FPH has also organized the Dia Nacional do Hóquei , the national hockey day. Every year the FPH gathers a large number of active hockey players in a different location for show tournaments and lectures.

organization

structure

The president is Joana Catarina Martins Gonçalves (as of September 2015) . In addition to the association management with president and vice-president, the association has a general assembly ( Assembleia Geral ) and four other organs:

  • Conselho Arbitragem (German: Arbitration Council)
  • Conselho Disciplina (German: Disciplinary Council)
  • Conselho Justiça (German: Legal Counsel)
  • Conselho Fiscal (German: Supervisory Board or Control Council)

The association has four departments:

  • Departamento Médico (Sports Medicine Department)
  • Departamento Administrativo (Administration)
  • Department Financeiro (Finance)
  • Departamento Técnico (Sports Technical Department), which is again divided into five sub-departments:
    • Departamento Competições (competitions)
    • Departamento Desporto Adaptado (Disabled Sports)
    • Formação (education and training)
    • Youth Panel (youth department)
    • Departamento Promoção e Desenvolvimento (Advertising and Development Department )

Finances

FPH closed the 2014 financial year with a loss of € 31,885.84, after € 22,898.64 in the previous year. The income totaling € 261,262.74 was offset by expenses totaling € 293,148.58.

The situation of the FPH thus corresponds to the generally difficult situation of most Portuguese sports associations, which are striving for increasing income and increased cost control with falling public subsidies, in an economic environment that continues to be difficult. The reason is the government's rigid austerity policy and the tense overall economic situation in Portugal as a result of the euro crisis .
