The Campeonato Nacional de Futebol Feminino (port. For national championship of women's football ) is by the National Football Association of Portugal FPF discharged annually since 1993 national championship of women's football clubs . The championship is the successor to the Taça Nacional played between 1985 and 1993, the winners of which are retrospectively recognized as national champions.

Primeira Divisão

The league operation in Portuguese women's football was established in 2008. Since then, the national championship title and thus qualification for the UEFA Women's Champions League has been played in the first division of the Primeira Divisão. Up to and including the 2015/16 season, the competition in the first division was held on a turn-based basis, and since 2016/17 it has been decided in a tabular overall ranking. The number of participants in the first division has been limited to twelve clubs since the 2017/18 season.

For the 2016/17 season, the top Portuguese clubs Sporting Lisbon and Sporting Braga were able to enter the first division with their newly formed women's teams, where they immediately took over the sporting dominance.
