The 3F Ligaen is the top division in Danish women's football . It was founded in 1972 and consists of ten teams. It is named after the Danish trade union Fagligt Fælles Forbund (3F), an organization that roughly corresponds to the German trade union ver.di.
mode
In the course of a season, each team first plays twice against each other team. The regular season ends and the playoffs begin. There are two playoff groups. The championship group contest the first four, the relegation group the places five to ten of the regular season. The points scored in the season are halved at the start of the playoffs (and rounded up if necessary). The championship group then plays twice against each team (six games each). The first place wins the Danish championship and qualifies with the runner-up (Denmark is one of UEFA's top 8 leagues) for the UEFA Women's Champions League .
The relegation group plays against each other once (five games each), the last two are relegated to the 2nd division.
