Russian women's football championship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Russian Women's Football Championship ( Russian Чемпионат России по футболу среди женщин , transcribed Tschempionat Rossii po futbolu sredi shenschtschin ) was founded in 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union . Since then there have been various champions who have been able to celebrate short-term successes thanks to temporary financial support from some local sponsors. The league will play between May and October.

Due to increasing government support in recent years, for example, Zvezda 2005 Perm and ŽFK Rossijanka achieved semi-professional status. Internationally, women are noticeably moving up to the top. For example, Zvezda Perm reached the final of the 2009 UEFA Women's Cup and the national team also attracted attention.
