The Kategoria Femra , Albanian: Kampionati Kombëtar i femrave (German National Women's Championship called) is the official Football Championship in the Albanian women's football. The championship was held for the first time in 2009.

history

The championship was held for the first time in 2009. The first championship was held as a knockout tournament. The first official champion is the Tirana AS association . The 2010/2011 season was played for the first time in the league system and won by KS Ada Velipoja . Since 2011, the women's football clubs in Albania have been allowed to participate in the UEFA Women's Champions League . Accordingly, KS Ada Velipoja was the first Albanian football club to take part in this competition. There the club lost all three qualifying games and was eliminated with a goal difference of 0:34 goals and 0 points.

In the 2011/2012 season eight clubs competed in the top league for the Albanian women's football championship. The number of participants was increased to twelve in between and later reduced to ten again.
