Qualification for Champions League

The Damallsvenskan is the top division in Swedish women's football . It was founded in 1988 . Reigning champions are FC Rosengård . In addition to the German Bundesliga , Damallsvenskan is considered the strongest league in Europe. At the 2013 European Women's Football Championship , 49 players were nominated who are active in Damallsvenskan, more than from other leagues.

mode

The twelve teams meet each other twice during the season. Champions and runners-up will take part in the UEFA Women's Champions League the following season . In theory, three teams can take part in the European Cup. This can happen if a Swedish club wins the UEFA Women's Champions League but does not finish in the top two in Damallsvenskan. The two last-placed teams are relegated to the Elitettan and are replaced by the champions of these leagues. As usual in Scandinavia, the season runs with the calendar year. The championship team receives the Crown Princess Victorias Cup as a trophy .
