The Gideonsbergs IF is a Swedish football club from Västerås . The club is best known for its women's soccer team, which was both Swedish national champions in Damallsvenskan and won the national cup .
history
The women's team at Gideonsberg IF was one of the twelve founding members of Damallsvenskan in the 1988 season . After three sixth places were achieved at the beginning, the team moved into the championship finals for the first time in the 1991 season as fourth in the table. In the same year, they made it to the cup final for the first time, in which they had to admit defeat Öxabäck / Mark IF . In the following season she finished second behind Öxabäck / Mark IF in regular time, but won the championship in the finals. The club achieved the highest victory in the club's history with an 11-0 win in September 1992 against Jitex BK . However, due to a 2-1 defeat in the cup final against Älvsjö AIK , the team missed winning the double .
In 1993 Gideonsbergs IF managed to win their second title when the third in the table of the season in the cup final retaliated with a 4-1 final win for the previous year's defeat against Älvsjö AIK in the cup final. The following year, the fourth consecutive cup final, but the club lost to the women's team from Hammarby IF . After the runner-up in the 1995 season , the club went downhill, at the end of the 1998 season he rose from bottom of the table together with BK Kenty and Öxabäck / Mark IF in the second division. The team stayed there until the end of the 2008 season, when they were relegated to the third division for the first time. The men's team of the club has so far hardly appeared nationwide. In 1994 she played briefly in the third division. In December 2008 the club agreed to work with Västerås SK and Västerås IK , as a result of which the club ceded the best players from its youth department to Västerås SK.
