The Tyresö Fotbollförening was a Swedish football club from Tyresö . The club is best known for its women's team, which played several seasons in Damallsvenskan . The men's team also played two seasons in second class .

history

Tyresö FF was founded in 1971. Just six years later, the club's men's team reached the fourth level before they rose to third division in 1979 as champions of Division 4 Stockholm Södra . If they occupied the last non-relegation place in the first two years, the team played for promotion to the second division in the following years. After a third and fourth place in the following seasons, the club occupied first place in the division 3 Östra Svealand in the season 1984 and then took part in the promotion round to the second division. There the team won both games against IK Oddevold 4-1 and 3-2 respectively .

The level of the second highest division was too high for the Tyresö FF. With six wins of the season, the club said goodbye to the table next to bottom of the northern season together with Karlslunds IF and Falu BS from the second division. As the season winners, the team immediately qualified for the promotion round, the direct promotion failed after a 3-2 home win and a 0-1 defeat at IFK Hässleholm due to the away goals rule . After the team had slipped to seventh place in the table, they repeated the season victory in the 1989 season with two points ahead of the trio IK Sleipner , Sandvikens IF and Nyköpings BIS . Again, she could not hold in the second division, with 21 defeats this season only managed one victory.

As relegated Tyresö FF placed only in the lower league area. In 1992 the crash into the fourth division followed, at the same time the star of the women's team rose. As a second division champion, she made her first jump into the Damallsvenskan in the same year. In the 1993 season she finished eighth in the table as a climber. The men were also successful and made it back to the third division. After a sixth place in the Damallsenskan season in 1994 , the women's team found itself in a relegation battle and had to relegate at the end of 1996. Then both the women's and the men's team played for promotion. While the women managed to return to Damallsvenskan as season winners at the end of 1998, the men only missed a second league stay in the same year in the promotion round after a 1-1 draw and a 2-1 defeat against Östersunds FK . The women, in turn, were relegated directly from bottom of the table next season.

As a result, it went steadily downhill for the men's team from Tyresö FF, so that they were relegated to fifth division.

In April 2014, the club's operating company, Tyresö FF AB, ran into financial difficulties and was only able to pay part of the salaries, so that many players no longer participated in the season that began in April. The president Hans Lindberg also announced the departure of the Brazilian star player Marta Vieira da Silva and the other leading players Caroline Seger and Verónica Boquete , whose contracts were expiring. As a result of the financial bottleneck, the submission point of the documents for licensing for the 2015 season expired, whereupon the Swedish Football Association initially did not issue a license for Damallsvenskan on April 30, 2014. At the same time, the team qualified for the first time for the final of the UEFA Women's Champions League in April 2014 after going 0-0 with a 3-0 in the second leg against Birmingham City LFC , with Birmingham coach David Parker the team still top-class in the Champions League as a female Galácticos had designated. The final on May 22, 2014, Tyresö lost just 3: 4 against the German champions and defending champions VfL Wolfsburg , with players who did not participate in the league playing again. Two weeks after the defeat in the final, the traditional club , whose operating company had been declared bankrupt in June, decided to stop its gaming operations in Damallsvenskan. For the following season, this would mean automatic relegation to fourth-class Division 2, with the club still having another women's team in Division 1, which is one division higher. In 2015 Tyresö Fotbollsförening was re-established and the women's team took part in the 3-class Division 1 Södra Svealand for the first time in the 2017 season. With Madelaine Edlund , a former player of the original club Tyresö FF, became the team 's captain. As of 2017, the old TFF venue will also be the 2,700-seat Adidas Stadium .
