IFK Hässleholm is a Swedish sports club from Hässleholm . He is best known for his soccer team , which played in the second division for several years .

history

IFK Hässleholm was founded in 1905. In 1918 the team was in the final of the Kamratmästerskapen for the first time , but lost to IFK Eskilstuna . The following year the final was reached again and this time the title was won through a win over IFK Stockholm .

When Allsvenskan was founded in 1924, IFK could not qualify and initially had to compete in a lower class. In 1936 he was promoted to third-class Division 3 . Here the team was able to establish itself in the midfield of the league. In 1940 they were runner-up behind IFK Kristianstad and a year later behind IFK Trelleborg . However, the team could not build on the successes and in 1943 only the last place in the table was beaten off and thus sealed the renewed relegation to fourth division.

1964 IFK succeeded after 21 years of promotion to the third division and the team was able to establish itself directly in the front part of the table. In 1969, however, the new slump came and as eleventh, after the third place in the table could be occupied in the previous year, the renewed relegation to the fourth division followed. Here the team stayed until they were promoted again in 1972. After a fifth place in 1973, IFK managed the third division championship in the following season and rose to the second division 2 for the first time .

With three points ahead of the relegation place occupied by Västra Frölunda IF , the relegation was achieved as eighth in the first second division season. In 1976 the team finished fourth, but then things went downhill again. 1978 the last non-relegation place was occupied with three points ahead of Trelleborgs FF . Two years later the club had one point more than relegated IFK Kristianstad. A year later you ended the season on a relegation zone.

As sixth in the table, IFK missed direct re-promotion and ended the season behind local rivals Hässleholms IF . A year later, the team was runner-up, two points missing from leaders Ifö / Bromölla IF . In 1984 the club only finished second, but Karlskrona AIF had a seven point lead. 1986 came the relay victory and thus the qualification for the promotion games. There the first leg at Tyresö FF was lost 3-2, but a 1-0 win in the second leg celebrated the return to the second division due to the away goals rule .

IFK Hässleholm found themselves in the second division directly in the relegation battle. With one point ahead of relegated Kalmar FF , however, the relegation was managed. The second season in the Swedish House of Commons was less successful. Only three wins this season and five draws meant last in the table.

In 1991 IFK was first behind Mjällby AIF in the spring series. In the fall series, however, the club won the championship and thus qualified for the second division. There the team played in the 1992 season against relegation. In the following season, however, the club knew how to surprise and qualified as runner-up for the promotion games to Allsvenskan . There they failed with two 1: 2 defeats at Degerfors IF . In 1994 the club was third, then things slowly went downhill before relegation to the third division in 1998.

In 2000, the third from last place in the third division was occupied. So IFK had to be relegated and competed against Höllvikens GIF . After a 1-1 draw on a foreign pitch, IFK lost the home game 2-1 and had to relegate to fourth division after 28 years. With 51 points from 22 games, the team made it straight back. In 2004 they finished third, with Mjällby AIF missing four points. A year later, Bunkeflo IF came third with four points behind them . This meant that IFK after a league reform - the number of seasons was halved from four to two - managed direct qualification for the new third division.

In 2006, however, the club ended the season as the penultimate on a relegation zone and had to relegate again to the fourth division. There, as seventh in the table, the direct return was missed. Then the team stayed in the league until 2010 in the relegation games due to the away goals rule Kållered SK and was relegated to the fifth division.
