Hässleholm (until 1906 Hessleholm) is a locality ( Tatort ) in the southern Swedish province of Skåne län and the capital of the municipality of the same name .

At the beginning there was a manor from the 16th century, which was extended around 1780 with two wings. In 1860 the Malmö - Nässjö - Falköping railway line was built and Hässleholm was given a train station. In the years that followed, there were further rail connections to Helsingborg , Kristianstad and Markaryd . The settlement, which in 1901 received the status of a minor town (köping) , grew on the basis of this junction . When it took over town charter in 1914, Hässleholm was one of Sweden's smallest towns. Even until the administrative reform of 1971, which made the city rights insignificant, the place did not grow noticeably. Two regiments were temporarily stationed south of the village, which were wound up in 2000.

The center grew on the eastern side of the railway embankment. Most of the buildings, which are kept in a modern style, come from the period after the Second World War . In 2002 the local culture house was inaugurated.
