Robin James Olof Stjernberg [ˈrɔbɪn ˈdʒeɪms ˈuːlɔf ˈɧæːɳbærj] (born February 22, 1991 in Hässleholm ) is a Swedish singer, was a 2011 finalist in the Idol singing competition and is a former member of the boy band What's Up . He represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö , after he emerged from the national preliminary round Melodifestivalen 2013 with the title You as the winner. In 2017 Robin Stjernberg wrote the title I Can't Go On for the Swedish singer Robin Bengtsson . He won the Melodifestivalen 2017 and represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev .

What's up

Stjernberg was a member of the What's Up group , which also included Eric Saade , a Swedish participant in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest .

Idol 2011 and record deal

Stjernberg was behind Amanda Fondell second in the competition Idol in 2011. His first single All This Way he published December 2, 2011, a title from the contest by Darin Zanyar , Idol runner-up in 2004, and Arnthor Birgisson written has been. In the Idol final, which took place on December 9, 2011 in the Globen, he was defeated by Fondell with 48 to 52 percent.

On December 19, 2011 it was announced that Stjernberg has signed a record deal with the Lionheart Music Group for music publishing, publishing and management. His debut album My Versions , a recap of the Idol season, was released on January 4, 2012 and reached number one on Sverigetopplistan , the Swedish hit parade. The first single from this album was Halo .

Melodifestivalen and Eurovision Song Contest 2013

In 2013 Robin Stjernberg took part in the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . He appeared in the fourth of a total of four preliminary round shows and could not secure a direct place for the final. But he managed to move into the final on March 9, 2013 in the intermediate round Andra Chans (second chance). In the telephone vote, he only received the second most votes (15.8%, corresponds to 75 points) behind Yohio (21.7%, corresponds to 103 points). However, half of the points were awarded by eleven international juries. Of these, Yohio received only 30 points, while Stjernberg was placed just in first place with 91 points. As a result, Stjernberg ultimately won with 166 points ahead of Yohio with 133 points. He is the first participant who was able to win the overall competition via the second chance, which has existed in the competition since 2002. At the ESC 2013, Stjernberg finally took 14th place with You .
