The Mamas are a Swedish-American soul and gospel group. They were supposed to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song Move , which had to be canceled on March 18, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
Career
The group consists of Ashley Haynes (born January 19, 1987 in Washington DC ), Loulou Lamotte (born April 16, 1981 in Malmö ) and Dinah Yonas Manna (born September 5, 1981 in Stockholm ).
The Mamas 2019 supported John Lundvik as accompanist for his contribution to Melodifestivalen 2019 , Too Late for Love . By winning Melodifestivalen, Lundvik received the right to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv . There he was also accompanied by The Mamas. In the final Sweden reached the 5th place.
At the end of 2019 it was announced that The Mamas would be participating in Melodifestivalen 2020 with their song Move . They competed in the first semi-final on February 1, 2020 in Linköping and qualified directly for the final on March 7, 2020 in the Friends Arena in Stockholm. There they won with a total of 137 points and should represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam.
