Charlotte Nilsson (2014)

Anna Jenny Charlotte Nilsson (born October 7, 1974 in Hovmantorp, Lessebo municipality ) is a Swedish pop and dansband singer .

Life

In 2003 she married the innkeeper Nicola Perrelli , with whom she has two sons. Even after that, she continued to work in show business and as a television presenter. She has been in a relationship with Anders Jensen since 2012 . Their first son was born in 2013. Her nephew Benjamin Ingrosso represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon .

Career

Nilsson had been singing in the dance music band Wizex for years , until in 1999 she won the Eurovision Song Contest with the title Take Me to Your Heaven . She then left the band to start a solo career.

After her victory, she signed a recording deal with Sony BMG and released her winning track Take Me to Your Heaven across Europe. Her self-titled debut album Charlotte Nilsson was released in Europe in autumn 1999. Further publications in Japan and Australia followed at the end of the year. The album was also successful in Norway. The second single, I Write You a Lovesong , a cover version by Izabella Scorupco , was released in September 1999.

In 2001 she released her second studio album Miss Jealousy in Sweden, Norway and Japan. The first single You Got Me Going Crazy became her third top 10 hit in Sweden. With the album she went on tour through Europe and also played concerts in Japan and New Zealand.

In 2003 and 2004, Nilsson moderated the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest, Melodifestivalen . In 2004 she also released her third studio album Gone Too Long , which includes the successful singles Broken Heart and Million Miles Away . The successful Swedish producer Jörgen Elofsson worked on the album .

In 2006 she released the cover album När min vän , which contains cover versions by the Swedish jazz singer Monica Zetterlund . In the years that followed, she sang several new Swedish songs, such as Som du and Jag är tillbaks , in various television programs , which were featured on her Greatest Hits CD in 2008.

Nilsson took part in the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 with the title Hero and made it into the final in the Globen in Stockholm in the fourth preliminary round . She reached first place there and represented Sweden in the second semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade , where she also managed to qualify for the final two days later. There Nilsson reached the 18th place out of 25 participants, which she could not repeat her success of 1999. Still, Hero was a huge success in Sweden, finishing first for five weeks in a row. The song also made it into the charts in Switzerland, Hungary, Denmark, Finland and Norway.

In 2012 Nilsson took part again in the Swedish preliminary decision with the song The Girl . In the fourth semifinals she was eliminated in 5th place. The album of the same name, which includes a duet with Belgian singer Kate Ryan , reached the Swedish Top 10.
