Netta Barzilai ( Hebrew נטע ברזילי; * January 22, 1993 in Hod Hasharon ), also known as Netta , is an Israeli singer . As the interpreter of the song Toy , she won the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest on May 12, 2018 and thus achieved the fourth victory for Israel in this competition.

Life

Netta Barzilai comes from Hod HaSharon , a city north of Tel Aviv . As a child, she lived in Nigeria with her family for four years . Musical career

On February 13, 2018, she won HaKochav Haba L'Eurovision (The Next Star of Eurovision), the Israeli original version of the television show Rising Star . In the ESC final on May 12, 2018, Netta Barzilai received the third most jury and most audience points and won the competition with a total of 529 points, ahead of Cyprus and Austria. “Thank you for choosing the difference; thank you for celebrating diversity, ”she said in her acceptance speech.

In February 2020 she released her single Ricki Lake . Netta also made a cameo in the Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga .
