Caveret

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaveret ( Hebrew : כוורת, to German "beehive") was an Israeli rock - band in the 1970s. She was known for her often humorous lyrics and her musical style.

Founded Kaveret 1973 . Some of the members met when they were serving together in the Israeli army . In 1976 the group was dissolved again. Then the former members Gidi Gov and Danny Sanderson together with the singer Mazi Cohen and other musicians first founded the group Gazoz and later another called Doda.

Many pieces by Kaveret became an integral part of Israeli culture and are still familiar to the new generation of Israeli youth today.

In 1974 Kaveret represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest under the name “The Poogy Groop” with her piece Natati La Chaiai (Hebrew: נתתי לה חיי, “I gave her my life”). They came in 7th place.

The band was never formally dissolved, but was no longer permanently active after 1980. In the following years, however, there were reunification appearances on special occasions, for example in 1984, 1990, 1998 (on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel) and so far for the last time in 2000.
