Boaz Mauda ( Hebrew בועז מעודה; *  April 23, 1987 in Elyakim ) is an Israeli singer.

Life

Boaz Mauda grew up in the Moschaw Elyakim, a small settlement near the northern Israeli city of Jokne'am , where he still lives today. His family is originally from Yemen . His mother has been disabled since he was born. Boaz Mauda began singing at the age of five when he and his father attended the synagogue. In 2007 he took first place with Menagen Ve'Shar in the fifth season of the casting show Kochav Nolad (A Star is Born).

On November 14, 2007, the Israeli television broadcaster Channel 2 decided for Boaz Mauda as Israel's participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade . At an event in February 2008, Mauda presented five different songs, from which the audience and a jury of experts selected the winning title Ke'ilu kan (The Fire In Your Eyes) . The song was written by former Eurovision Song Contest winner Dana International . At the semifinals on May 20, 2008 in the Belgrade Arena , his title was able to qualify for the final, which takes place four days later, where it finished ninth in the victory of Russian Dima Bilan .
