The Teapacks ( Hebrew : טיפקס) are an Israeli music band.

Band history

It was founded in 1988 in Sderot, Israel, and was initially named after the correction fluid Tipp-Ex . The band became popular because of their combination of traditional oriental music with slightly ironic tendencies. Your frontman Kobi Oz is known for his eccentricity. The band produced seven albums and was voted "Band of the Year" by Israeli radios.

With the song Push The Button they took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 . There was a dispute about the song in the run-up to the competition, as statements like "The world is full of terror and if someone makes a mistake, he'll blow us up" are too political. According to ESC producer Kjell Ekholm, this is a violation of the regulations. To Push The Button Kjell says: With ". It is quite clear that this kind of message is not appropriate for the competition" policy meant interpretations that consider the text a reference to current political issues. This is how Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and his threat to attack Israel are meant. According to Kobi Oz, the Teapacks with Push The Button generally want to point out the attitude towards life of many people in the world who have to live with different forms of violence that generate "strange feelings":

“Maybe the people who are against this song are living in a soap bubble. They just want songs about love, and strawberries and whipped cream. Sweet songs. But the world is going in a different direction. There is violence and weird feelings about it. This song will cause trouble in Finland and they are afraid of us. "

Despite the concerns, the European Broadcasting Union approved the song for the Eurovision Song Contest on March 14, where it did not get past a 24th place in the semifinals.
