Franz Xaver Geisenhofer

Franz Xaver Geisenhofer (born August 30, 1914 in Herschenhofen ; † August 4, 2000 ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

After attending primary school, Geisenhofer initially worked as a worker. He did military service at a medical school in 1935/36 and was then a professional soldier. Since 1939 he took part in the Second World War as a medic and was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1945.

After his return from captivity, Geisenhofer was employed by the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) from 1945 to 1967 . In the late 1940s he studied for one semester at the Business and Administration Academy and passed the state shorthand teacher examination in 1950. Since 1964 he has worked as a consultant and department head of the State Research Service at the BRK Presidium. In 1968 he was elected Second Vice President of the German Commission for UNESCO .

Political party

Geisenhofer joined the CSU in 1953, was chairman of a CSU district and was later elected to the CSU state executive. In addition, he was involved as deputy country chairman in the Christian Social Workers Union (CSA).

MP

Geisenhofer was a member of the German Bundestag from May 3, 1967, when he replaced the late MP Maria Probst , until 1980. He was always drawn into parliament via the Bavarian state list. From January to November 1980 he was deputy chairman of the Bundestag committee for youth, family and health.
