Shiri Maimon

Shiri Maimon ( Hebrew שירי מימון; Born May 17, 1981 in Haifa , Israel ) is an Israeli singer who took second place on the first season of the Israeli talent show Kochav Nolad . With her song HaScheket Schenisch'ar (השקט שנשאר) she took fourth place with 154 points in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 .

biography

Shiri Maimon was born in Haifa and grew up in Kirjat Chaim . At the age of ten she took part in a children's festival. In 2001 she appeared for the first time in a music video by the group " Tipeks ". After her military service in the Israeli Air Force , she went to Eilat and worked there as a waitress and singer.

In 2003 she took second place on the first season of the Israeli talent show Kochav Nolad and became famous overnight. On March 2, 2005, she took part in the Israeli preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , the Kdam-Eurovision with the song HaScheket Schenisch'ar (" The silence that stayed behind "). She won with 116 points and thus qualified for participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev , where she first had to compete in the semifinals.

She was seventh in the semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest, and fourth in the final with 154 points, 12 of which came from Monaco .

In September 2005 Shiri Maimon released her debut album of the same name, which received gold status within a few months.

Since March 2006 Maimon has played the talented singer Maya Gold in the Israeli soap "Jeladot Ra'ot" (Bad Girls).

In London she recorded her first international album. It was released in 2008 under the title Standing On My Own .
