Functionality and range of the Magic Leap One

Magic Leap One

The Magic Leap One is designed to project computer-generated 3D images over objects in the real world, in which a digital light field is projected into the eyes of the user. For that to a light field-chip (so-called silicon - photonics ) are used. The Magic Leap One consists of glasses with a display and corresponding sensors , the so-called lightwear, and an additional pocket computer with a processor and a graphics card , the lightpack. A game controller with a touchpad , six degrees of freedom and haptic feedback is also planned. Forehead and nose pads should enable individual adaptation to your own head shape. Due to the built-in sensors and battery life, the technology is initially designed for interiors. Different models for different target groups and two sizes of glasses are planned.

The developer version is said to cost between $ 1,500 and $ 2,000 and is compared to the price of a premium computer. The long-term goal is to replace the smartphone and comparable technologies and make the technology wireless and mobile.

reception

The company is criticized as a vaporware company with an exaggerated hype with expectations that are too high , among other things because of many announcements and delays, without delivering great results so far .
