Ell & Nikki (also Eldar & Nigar ) are an Azerbaijani singing duo , best known through the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 .
Career
Members
The duo consists of:
- Eldar Qasımov (* 1989 ), Azerbaijani singer
- Nigar Camal (* 1980 ), Azerbaijani singer
The duo won the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest for Azerbaijan with the pop ballad Running Scared .
ESC 2011
On February 11, 2011, they won the Azerbaijani preliminary decision Milli seçim turu and therefore represented their home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf . On May 10, 2011 they presented the English-language ballad Running Scared, written by Stefan Örn, Sandra Bjurman and Iain Farguhanson, in the first ESC semi-final. Four days later they won the final with 221 points.
Ell & Nikki went on a European tour, where they performed their winning song. Further singles of the duo are not planned for now. With Crush on You first solo single was released in December 2011 and Play with Me in August 2012, the solo debut album of Nigar Jamal.
Eldar Qasımov was one of the three presenters of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku .
