Nigar Camal (born September 7, 1980 in Baku ) is an Azerbaijani singer .

Life

Nigar Camal grew up with her grandparents. She attended high school and learned to play the saxophone . She also sang in the choir and performed with the band Pöhrə . She speaks four languages: Azerbaijani , Turkish , English and Russian . In 2001 she graduated from Khazar University in her hometown with a degree in economics and business management .

On February 11, 2011, she won the Azerbaijani preliminary round Milli seçim turu and then represented her home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf together with Eldar Qasımov , who was nine years her junior under the duet name " Ell & Nikki " . On May 10, 2011 they presented the English-language ballad Running Scared, written by Stefan Örn, Sandra Bjurman and Iain Farguhanson, in the first ESC semi-final. Four days later they won the final with 221 points.

The singer's first solo single, Crush on You , was released in December 2011 and the singer's debut album, Play With Me, in August 2012. Here she calls herself Nikki Jamal .

Camal has been married since 2005 and has two daughters (* 2006 and * 2007). She lives in the UK with her family.
