The Khazar University ( Azerbaijani Xəzər Universitəsi ; translated Caspian University) is a private, English-speaking university in the Azerbaijani capital Baku .
The university was founded in 1991 by Hamlet İsaxanlı . At that time it was the first private university in the successor states of the Soviet Union . There are bachelor -, master and doctoral programs offered. About 200 professors work at Khazar University , most of whom have studied or taught in Europe and the USA.
The university has six faculties :
- Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
- Faculty of Architecture and Engineering
- Faculty of Economics and Management
- Faculty of Law
- Faculty of Medicine
- Faculty of Education
The university's largest chair is that of English Language and Literature . Emphasis is placed on language and communication skills, British and American literature, linguistics, interpreting and translation. There is also the Dunya School , which consists of pre-school, elementary and middle school and is connected to the Faculty of Education. The languages of instruction are English and Azerbaijani.
Chazar University has around 2,000 students, around 15% of whom are foreigners. In addition to academic education, Chazar University students can participate in music, dance, theater activities, and participate in sports groups. Khazar University works with more than 70 universities and research institutes in over 25 countries. Since its inception, emphasis has been placed on international partnership programs.
Museums
Various museums are connected to Chazar University, such as the Folklore Museum and the Carpet Museum.
