Elnur Hüseynov (born March 3, 1987 in Aschchabad , Turkmen SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Azerbaijani singer. He represented Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and 2015.

biography

Hüseynov was born in Ashgabat, now the capital of Turkmenistan , to Azerbaijani parents. At the age of five, Hüseynov was accepted at a music school for particularly talented children, where he trained as a pianist . In 1999 the family moved to Baku ( Azerbaijan ), where Hüseynov first studied dentistry . He then attended the Zeynalli Music Academy and graduated from there in 2004. Afterwards he worked for a short time at the Azerbaijan State Opera and the "Ballet Theater" as well as with the choir group of the "Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society" and sang in a church choir. In 2003 he won first place in the Sing Your Song music competition organized by the Azerbaijani television station Lider TV .

Participation in the Eurovision Song Contest

On February 2, 2008, Hüseynov and Samir Javadzade won the Azerbaijani preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 , Land of Fire, with the Song Day After Day . Hüseynov and Javadzade appeared as angels (Hüseynov) and devils (Javadzade). In the first semifinals of the ESC on May 20, 2008, both managed to place in the ten most popular entries. This meant moving into the final four days later, where they finished eighth out of a total of 25 participants in the victory of Russian Dima Bilan . Azerbaijan took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time .

He was selected internally to represent the country again in 2015 with the song Hour Of The Wolf . Here he reached twelfth place in the final.

Participation O Ses Türkiye

Hüseynov took part in the fourth season of the Turkish casting show O Ses Türkiye in 2014/15 . On February 18, 2015, he was named the fourth season winner.
