Diana Hacıyeva (also known by her stage name Dihaj ; born June 13, 1989 in Mariupol , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Azerbaijani singer-songwriter and composer .

Career

Diana Hacıyeva was born in 1989 in the city of Mariupol, part of what is now Ukraine . She graduated from the Baku Music Academy as a choir conductor . A short time later she founded the band DIHAJ , whose name is an abbreviation of the name Diana Hajiyeva used in the English-speaking world . With the band she appeared as a singer accompanied by a drummer and a guitarist .

In 2011 Hacıyeva took part in the Azerbaijani preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest Milli Seçim Turu , where she was eliminated in fourth place in her preliminary round.

At the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 she accompanied Səmra Rəhimli as a background singer .

On December 5, 2016 she was selected internally by İTV to represent Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 . In the final, she reached number 14 with the song Skeletons .
