Alexander Rybak
Alexander Igorovitsj Rybak (according to the Norwegian spelling; Belarusian Аляксандр Ігаравіч Рыбак , German transcription Alyaksandr Íharawitsch Rybák, by transcription of the Russian language Alexander Igorevich Rybak , * 13. May 1986 in Minsk ) is a Belarusian - Norwegian singer , violinist , composer and actor .
He became known for his victory with the song Fairytale at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 . With 387 points he achieved the highest number of points before the reform of the voting system in 2016 and with 169 points the largest lead in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2018 he qualified again for Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest and took 15th place with That's How You Write a Song .
Life
Childhood and career start
Alexander Rybak was born in 1986 into a family of artists in the Belarusian Soviet Republic . His mother is the pianist Natalia Walentinowna Rybak, his father the violinist Igor Alexandrowitsch Rybak. At the age of four, Rybak moved to Norway with his parents. There he grew up in Nesodden , a suburb of Oslo . He is fluent in Norwegian , English and Russian . He learned to play the piano and violin at the age of five. He also devoted himself to singing and composing his own pieces of music. Later he took over in Bergen concert management of the largest youth symphony orchestra of Norway, the Ung Symfoni.
In 2004 Rybak received the renowned Anders-Jahres-Kulturpreis in Norway. Two years later, he won with his self-composed song Foolin ' the talent competition Kjempesjansen the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation ( NRK ). He performed with the Israeli violinist Pinchas Zukerman , among others , and pursued a career as an actor alongside his work as a singer, composer and violinist. Rybak played a leading role in a production of the musical Anatevka at Oslo's Nye Teater, which earned him the Heddaprisen in 2007 . In 2009 Rybak made his feature film debut with a supporting role in Grete Salomonsen's Norwegian youth film Yohan - Barnevandreren , which was shown in Norwegian cinemas from the beginning of December 2009.
Participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009
On February 21, 2009, Rybak won the Melodi Grand Prix , the Norwegian national preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow , with the song Fairytale in Oslo . He had big lead on second-placed title Butterflies by Tone Damli Aaberge (Rybak got 747,888 points, 121,856 Aaberge points).
In spring 2009, the title was number one in the Norwegian charts for eight weeks . On May 16, 2009 Rybak managed to win the Eurovision Song Contest with a record lead. With a total of 387 points, he surpassed the previous final record of 292 points set by the Finnish group Lordi with the title Hard Rock Hallelujah in Athens in 2006. At the same time, the contribution reached the largest gap to the runner-up to date.
After the song contest 2009
In 2011 Rybak took part as a dancer in the Swedish edition of Let's Dance . In 2014 he contributed the song Into a Fantasy to the soundtrack of the movie How To Train Your Dragon 2 .
Rybak released several albums and singles with songs in English, Norwegian, Belarusian and Russian. In 2018 Rybak won the Norwegian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with That's How You Write a Song . At the competition in Lisbon he finished 15th with 144 points.
