geography

Nesodden is located on the peninsula of the same name , bounded by the Oslofjord on the west side and the Bunnefjord on the east side, about seven kilometers south of Oslo . Furthermore, smaller islands such as Steilene , Ildjernet and Langøyene belong to the municipal area. history

Before the regional reform in Norway , Nesodden belonged to the former Fylke Akershus . As part of the reform, Akershus was transferred to the newly created Viken province on January 1, 2020.

In the municipality is the Nesodden kirke , a Romanesque stone church from the twelfth century. It is protected as a cultural monument.

economy

More than half of the residents of Nesodden work outside the municipality, the majority of them in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. The Sunnaas Sykehus hospital is the second largest company after Nesodden municipality and offers rehabilitation measures for seriously injured patients. Both industrial and agricultural production are barely developed in the municipality.
