Nesbyen is a municipality in the former Norwegian province ( Fylke ) Buskerud , since 2020 Viken . Until December 31, 2019, the municipality was called Nes . Since there was another municipality called Nes in the province of Akershus , which should also come to Viken, it was decided to rename it to Nes (Buskerud). The administrative center is the locality of Nesbyen. The municipalities of Gol in the north, Sør-Aurdal in the east, Flå in the southeast, Nore og Uvdal in the southwest and Ål in the west border on Nesbyen .
Nesbyen is an important tourist municipality. On both sides of the valley there are paths in mountain areas with hut settlements. Examples are Imle, Mythe, Fekjan, Saupeset, Liaset, Nystølen, Myking, Ranten, Grønhovd, Liemarka, Thoenmarka and Langevann / Buvannsområdet. There are also many campsites in the municipality: Sjong, Sutøya, Nesbyen camping, Liodden camping, Fekjan setercamping and Bromma (Norsentret).
There is active agriculture and forestry in the municipality, but most of the businesses are small and many have a second job or run the business in combination with tourism.
Nesbyen is an important trading center.
