Marker is a Norwegian municipality in the province ( Fylke ) Viken . The administrative seat is in Ørje . It borders on Aremark , Rakkestad , Eidsberg and Rømskog , Aurskog-Høland and Sweden . The European route 18 passes through the municipality.
Marker was created on January 1st, 1964 when the former municipalities of Rødenes and Øymark were merged. Attractions in Marker are the Ørje Fort , Basmo Fortress and the Halden Canal .
