Modum is a Norwegian municipality in the province ( fylke ) Viken . Modum has 14,115 inhabitants (February 27, 2020) and extends over 517 km 2 . The main town and administrative seat of the municipality is Vikersund . The largest ski jumping hill in the world, the Vikersundbakken, is located in Modum .

Economic history

In the 17th century the Hassel ironworks was built for iron production; 1773 the Modum blue paint factory was the first large chemical company in Scandinavia.
