Anne-Marie David (born May 23, 1952 in Arles ) is a French singer. Her career is closely linked to the European music competition Eurovision Song Contest , which she won in 1973 . She was one of the few artists to take part in this event for two countries.
In 1973 David was invited by the Luxembourg broadcasting corporation RTL to represent the Grand Duchy in the competition in his own country. David was thus in a long line of foreign artists who competed for Luxembourg .
The competition on April 7, 1973 developed into an exciting three-way battle. At the end of the evaluation, David was four points ahead of the Spanish group Mocedades and six points ahead of the British Cliff Richard with her title Tu te reconnaîtras . David's first place was the second consecutive win of the event for Luxembourg and the fourth overall at that point. With 80.6% (129 out of 160 possible points) the highest percentage of points to date was achieved in the Eurovision Song Contest (as of 2016).
Six years later, David took part in the competition again, this time for her home country France. At the contest , which was held in Jerusalem , she took third place with her song Je suis l'enfant-soleil behind the Israeli winner from Milk & Honey and the Spaniard Betty Missiego .
