Anggun (2011)

Anggun Cipta Sasmi (born April 29, 1974 in Jakarta ) is an Indonesian pop singer who has also had French citizenship since 2000.

Life

Anggun (2005)

Anggun is the daughter of a Javanese writer and housewife from the Sultanate of Yogyakarta . She grew up in Indonesia and attended a Catholic nuns school. She began her musical career in her youth and was a successful singer in her home country at the age of 19. At the age of 19, she also founded her own record label. At the height of her success in Indonesia, she left her homeland and moved to London . Since she was initially unable to develop her career there as intended, she moved to the Netherlands . She previously stopped over in France to visit Paris for a few days , but eventually settled there and lived in the French capital for seven years. She only learned the French language in the country. Later she also lived in Montreal . She was married three times, including from 2010 to 2015 to the writer Cyril Montana , with whom she has a daughter.

Her first international single La neige au Sahara / Snow on the Sahara came in 16 in France. She reached the same position in 2005 with the title Être une femme . In 2006 she performed at the NRJ Music Awards . In 2007 she sang the song Un Jour Sur Terre for the film Our Earth and acted as the narrator in the French version. This was followed by a collaboration with the German global pop and ambient project Schiller . In 2011 she sang on French television with well-known French-speaking singers such as Tina Arena and Gérard Lenorman . In May 2012 she represented her adopted country of France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and reached 22nd place in the final. In September 2016 she was immortalized in the Bangkok wax museum Madame Tussauds .
