Nayah (2011)

Nayah , (* 1960 in Perpignan , actually Sylvie Mestre ) is a French singer. She represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 in Jerusalem .

Life

Nayah trained at the Conservatoire musical et d'art dramatique in Perpignan. She has been linked by the media to the New Religious Movement of the Raelists , to which she is said to have belonged in her youth.

Eurovision Song Contest

In 1990 Nayah took part in the Swiss preliminary round, but failed. In 1999 she took part in the French preliminary decision, which she won with the title Je veux donner ma voix ( German : "I want to give my vote"). At the contest in Jerusalem , however, she only achieved 19th place out of 23 participants with 14 points.
