Nina Morato

Nina Morato (born March 2, 1966 in Paris ; actually Stéphanie Morato ) is a French singer-songwriter .

Artistic career

After several singles which she released under the names Stéphanie and Stéphanie de Malakoff , Maman was released in 1993 , her first single, in which she used her current stage name. Maman was a success, as was the album Je suis la mieux, which was submitted later in the same year .

On this album, the then rather young songwriter Matthieu Chedid (better known under the name "-M-") played the guitar parts and also accompanied them on their tour. The following year, 1994, Morato was awarded the Victoires de la Musique prize for the album Je suis la mieux in the category Best Female New Discovery in Pop Music ( Révélation variétés féminine de l'année ). In the same year she represented France at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin ( Ireland ) with the song Je suis un vrai garçon , which she wrote with Bruno Maman . It reached number 7.

Also in 1994 she recorded the song La complainte de Sally for the French version of Tim Burton's animated film Nightmare Before Christmas and played the role of Marie in Christian Vincent's relationship drama Separation ( La Séparation ) with Isabelle Huppert .

Her second album L'allumeuse followed in 1996.

After an artistic break, she released the album Moderato ° in 1999 . The album represents an artistic advancement compared to her previous work, is more serious and has more charisma than her previous work, and is widely regarded as her finest album.

After a few appearances at concerts by other artists (including Raphaël Haroche and Arthur H ), she performed on March 28, 2006 together with the artists Tanger , Arthur H, Adanowsky , Albin de la Simone , Camille Bazbaz , Julien Cottereau and Antonin Maurel back into the public eye.

Since February 14, 2007, Nina has been reading the play Vagina-Monologe by Eve Ensler at the Théâtre Michel in Paris .
