Raphaël Haroche (born November 7, 1975 in Boulogne-Billancourt ), also known simply as Raphaël , is a French singer.

Life

Raphaël Haroche was born to an Argentine mother and a Russian father. As a child he learned to play the saxophone and piano, later he discovered his passion for the guitar and composed his first own songs. After graduating from high school, Haroche began studying law, but dropped out to devote himself entirely to music. In the following three years he met Caroline Manset, Gérard Manset's daughter , who has been his manager ever since. He began his career in supporting act for the artist Vanessa Paradis .

His first album, Hôtel de l'Univers , which was released in 1999, received very good reviews from the press. Although the success was limited for the time being, this album was seen as the first step towards a great career. A tour of France followed. His second album, La Réalité , was also recognized by the public. With over 160,000 copies sold, this commercially successful album was accompanied by another tour through France. Sur la route , a duet with Jean-Louis Aubert , earned him great respect from the French-speaking audience .

The breakthrough in popularity in France came with the third work Caravane : in 2006 it was the best-selling French album in France. A sold out tour of France, numerous appearances on television and radio were the result. In February 2007 his song "Et dans 150 ans" was sung by numerous well-known singers at the Les Enfoirés Festival . For the Swiss musician Stephan Eicher he wrote the song Rendez-vous , which can be heard on his album Eldorado .

He made his debut as a writer in 2017 with the collection of short stories Retourner à la mer , for which he was awarded the Prix ​​Goncourt de la nouvelle in the same year .

Raphaël lives with the actress Mélanie Thierry , who can be seen in the clip for the song Caravane . The two have two sons (* 2008 and * 2013).
