Vanessa Paradis
Vanessa Chantal Paradis (born December 22, 1972 in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés ) is a French singer and actress who has also made a name for herself as a model .
life and career
Vanessa Paradis grew up in Villiers-sur-Marne as the first child of André and Corinne Paradis. Her younger sister Alysson also became an actress. Paradis was a student at the Lycée Marcelin-Berthelot in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés and then at the Lycée Pablo Picasso in Fontenay-sous-Bois .
On May 3, 1980, she appeared on television for the first time in the program L'école des fans , hosted by Jacques Martin . There she sang Philippe Chatel's title Je m'appelle Emilie jolie . Her uncle, the actor and music producer Didier Pain , organized the performance . Three years later, the then ten-year-old, also through her uncle's mediation, recorded the title La Magie des surprises parties with the band Les Forbans . This was released as a single under her name in 1985 when Paradis competed with him on a talent competition.
Paradi's international career as a singer began when Pain's friend Franck Langolff , on whose album Normal she was a choir singer in 1986, took on her as a producer. Joe le taxi , written by him and Étienne Roda-Gil , became Paradis' first number one hit in the summer of 1987 . The title topped the charts in France for eleven weeks . The song also became a top 10 hit in Germany and Great Britain. Another comparable success was Be My Baby , which was released as a single in the fall of 1992.
The lyrics for their 1990 album Variations sur le même t'aime wrote Serge Gainsbourg , who also produced it with Langolff.
Her debut as a film actress was made possible in 1989 by Jean-Claude Brisseau , who engaged the sixteen-year-old for the lead role in his film White Wedding , which is one of her most successful films alongside Elisa , The Bayonne Witches Club and The Woman on the Bridge . In the 1990s, Paradis was also a model in an advertising campaign for the women's fragrance Chanel Nº 5 . Chanel bags and lipsticks were also promoted by her.
Between 1988 and 1991 she was the girlfriend of the singer Florent Pagny . This relationship was viewed critically in the media mainly because of the age difference between the two artists (she was 15 years old at the time and he was 26). This was followed by a stormy romance from 1992 to 1996 with Lenny Kravitz , who composed and produced her third album Vanessa Paradis . In 1993 she promoted this on her first tour, on which the recordings of her first live album were made, which was released in 1994. She then had a brief relationship with actor Stanislas Merhar from late 1997 to early 1998 .
In September 2007, after six years, a new studio album called Divinidylle was released . The album cover shows a portrait of her that Johnny Depp had painted. Paradis was in a relationship with the actor from 1998 to 2012, with whom she has a daughter ( Lily-Rose Melody , * 1999) and a son (* 2002). Vanessa Paradis dedicated the song La ballade de Lily Rose , which was published on the album Bliss , to her daughter .
In May 2013 a new album called Love Songs was released , a double CD produced by the French singer and songwriter Benjamin Biolay , with whom she was dating until 2015 after breaking up with rock singer Matthieu Chedid . Paradis made her relationship with Biolay public on May 13, 2014 at a Chanel fashion show in Dubai.
In 2016, Paradis was named to the competition jury of the 69th Cannes International Film Festival . In the same year she participated for the ninth time in the charity project Les Enfoirés , in which many stars of the French music scene meet once a year to give a concert.
Since November 2016 she has been with the writer and director Samuel Benchetrit , who cast her in the lead role of his film Chien , which was completed in 2017 . Paradis lives alternately in Los Angeles and in Plan-de-la-Tour in the south of France .
