occupation

The order over (original title: L'Arnacœur ) is a French comedy film by the director Pascal Chaumeil from 2010 with Vanessa Paradis and Romain Duris in the leading roles.

action

Alex Lippi is a professional job lover. Together with his sister Mélanie and his brother-in-law Marc, he runs a three-person company that specializes in opening the eyes of women in unhappy relationships and dividing them from their partners. Your clients are usually parents, siblings or friends who have long been a thorn in the side of the supposed dream man. Alex not only uses all his charm and all his seduction skills. In order to get to know the everyday life of the target objects and their preferences and weaknesses in detail, unusual espionage techniques are also used.

When the flower wholesaler Van Der Beck gives him the order to keep his daughter Juliette - who is about to marry the Englishman Jonathan - from the wedding, Alex initially categorically refuses the order. One of his company's tenets is that happy couples should not be divided. However, since Alex is heavily in debt and is already being pursued by the Serbian thug of a loan shark, he finally accepts the lucrative offer. The job turns out to be even more difficult than expected, because the wedding should take place in ten days.

Alex becomes Juliette's bodyguard in Monaco to be close to her and get to know her better. After initial distrust, Alex wins her favor and impresses her with a dance based on the model of the film Dirty Dancing and his alleged preference for Roquefort and George Michael - all things that she loves. So feelings develop between the two, but a rapprochement between them prevents Juliette's friend Sophie and Jonathan from appearing. Alex can barely prevent the two of them from getting married in Las Vegas and offers Juliette a nice night before the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, she rushes to Alex, she tells him she wants to cancel the wedding. But Alex rejects them.

On the way to the wedding, Alex, his helpers and Juliette and father meet in the hotel elevator. In the process, photos and papers fall down Marc, through which Juliette realizes that her father has given Alex the order to approach her.

On the way to the altar, Van der Beck explains to his daughter Juliette that he likes the bridegroom Jonathan. But he was convinced that she would get bored with him. He adds that a car is waiting for them with the key in the ignition. Alex also ultimately rejected the money for the job. Juliette turns on her heel and leaves the party to continue with the waiting car, hoping to meet Alex. Since a removal transport blocks the way, she leaves the car and continues on foot. Alex, in turn, made his way to her. They meet in the serpentines high above Monaco. They kiss and Alex explains to her that he doesn't like the things she loves. During the credits it turns out that the loan shark works for Juliette's father.

Reviews

Cinema said that Pascal Chaumeil “succeeded in making a comedy, also thanks to the wonderfully cheerful actors”, “which has what it takes to become a cult film”. "It is no coincidence that the fast-paced dialogues and the comic situations are reminiscent of screwball comedies like The Night Before the Wedding or A Touch of Mink, " the film magazine said. The film is "refreshing and seductive" and a "delicious romance".

Prisma , however, judged: “And again a film that hardly leaves out a cliché. In the style of American relationship comedies, Besson's pupil Pascal Chaumeil pulls out all the known stops of an over-the-top farce and, unfortunately, is more bored than he entertains. Vanessa Paradis should have chosen a better vehicle for her comeback. "

Critic.de wrote that the film, "which is stylistically closer to Hollywood than any other French romantic comedy", is carried by Romain Duris' charm.

The conclusion of the film service is: “A briskly staged romantic comedy with a rapid cut, a lively camera and a high frequency of punch lines. Admittedly, the film celebrates an extremely chauvinistic image of women and its twists and turns are therefore quite old-fashioned. "

The times are disappointed: “As a fraud and impostor comedy, The Order Overflow failed almost ironically, a disappointingly sloppy film about perfect deceptions. It shows a shrewd seducer in a world too simple and sloppy to seduce the audience, a trickster who doesn't win with his tricks but rather by lying and cheating on the script. "

Awards

Leading actor Romain Duris was nominated for the 2010 Satellite Award . At the 2011 César Awards , five nominations followed in the categories of Best Film , Best Actor (Romain Duris), Best Supporting Actress (Julie Ferrier), Best Supporting Actor (François Damiens) and Best Debut . However, the film couldn't hold its own against the competition.
