Samuel Benchetrit
Samuel Benchetrit (born June 26, 1973 in Champigny-sur-Marne , Val-de-Marne ) is a French director, screenwriter, actor and writer.
Life
Samuel Benchetrit grew up in humble circumstances in Champigny-sur-Marne, a suburb in the south-east of Paris. His mother is French and his father is of Ukrainian-Moroccan descent. When he was fifteen, he left home and went to Paris. There he did an apprenticeship in photography, pursued various occupations, among other things, worked as a photographer and made his first short films. At the age of eighteen he won a prize for a short film and made the acquaintance of Jean-Louis Trintignant , whose daughter Marie he later married. Marie Trintignant and François Cluzet also starred in Benchetrit's debut film Janis et John in 2003 . The one with Sergi López , Christopher Lambertand Jean-Louis Trintignant's high-profile comedy was also the last film by the actress, who died in Vilnius while filming a TV biography about the writer Colette .
For the episodic film J'ai toujours rêvé d'être un gangster , Benchetrit received the World Cinema Screenwriting Award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and in 2009 won the Prix Lumières for Best Screenplay . In 2002 his short film Nouvelle de la tour L was nominated for the European Film Award in the category of best short film . In 2011 his novel Le cœur en dehors , for which he received the Prix du roman populiste in 2009 , was also published in a German translation under the title Rimbaud and the things of the heart .
Samuel Benchetrit was married to Marie Trintignant until her death in 2003, and the marriage resulted in a son, the actor Jules Benchetrit (* 1998). Until 2012 he was in a relationship with the actress Anna Mouglalis , who also appeared in J'ai toujours rêvé d'être un gangster and Bei Gino . They have a daughter (* 2007) together. In June 2018, Benchetrit married Vanessa Paradis , with whom he has been in a relationship since 2016.
