Emmanuelle Bercot (born November 6, 1967 in Paris ) is a French actress , screenwriter and director .

Life

At first Bercot worked as a trained dancer, then took acting courses and finally worked as an actress in the theater and from 1987 also as a film actress. In 1994 she began her directing studies at the Paris film school FEMIS , which she graduated in 1998 with a diploma.

Like many well-known directors , Bercot first tried short films ( Les Vacances , 1997 and La Puce , 1998), which have already received international recognition and awards. In 2001 Bercot finished her first feature film, Clément . This film, which was shown on German television ( ARTE ) under the title Much Too Young , received the Young Talent Award at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival . In this film, Bercot is also a screenwriter, director and leading actress.

In 2015, it opened as a director of the social drama La tête haute the 68th International Film Festival of Cannes and was there for her acting performance in Maïwenns Mon roi with the Best Actor Award excellent.

In addition to her directorial work, Bercot has already appeared in several French productions (e.g. in La classe de neige by Claude Miller (1998)).

Bercot was inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in 2017 , which awards the Oscars annually.

Emmanuelle Bercot is the mother of singer and actor Nemo Schiffman , who comes from her relationship with French cameraman Guillaume Schiffman .
