Cannes International Film Festival 2015
The 68th Cannes International Film Festival took place from May 13th to 24th, 2015. The presidents of the competition jury were Ethan and Joel Coen . The French actor Lambert Wilson hosted the opening and closing ceremony again after 2014. The opening film of the festival was La tête haute by Emmanuelle Bercot shown out of competition.

The festival poster shows Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman in a photo by David Seymour . The motif was chosen to honor the actress's contribution to the film. Bergman had also served as the jury president in 1973 . The Swedish documentary Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words will be screened in the “Cannes Classics” section .

The filmmaker duo Ethan and Joel Coen were introduced in mid-January 2015 as the successors to last year's jury president Jane Campion . It is the first time that two people have chaired the jury. Both had been nominated multiple times for the Palme d'Or: in 2004 for Ladykillers , 2007 for No Country for Old Men and 2013 for Inside Llewyn Davis . Inside Llewyn Davis was awarded the 2013 Jury Grand Prize.

Un Certain Regard
In the series Un Certain Regard (German “A certain look”) works by less well-known filmmakers are shown, which will be awarded a prize worth 30,000 euros. The 2015 jury was headed by the Italian actress Isabella Rossellini . Other jury members were the Saudi Arabian director Haifaa al-Mansour , the Lebanese director Nadine Labaki , the Greek director Pános H. Koútras and the French actor Tahar Rahim .
The series' program includes 19 films. The opening film of the series was the Japanese contribution Cherry Blossoms and Red Beans (あ ん, An ) by Naomi Kawase .

Short film competition
The jury of the short film competition was headed by the Mauritanian director and screenwriter Abderrahmane Sissako . Other jury members were the Lebanese director Joana Hadjithomas , the French director Rebecca Zlotowski , the Belgian actress Cécile de France and the Polish actor Daniel Olbrychski . The jury decides on the award of the Golden Palm for the best short film. Nine films were included in the competition; a total of 4,550 applications were received from over 100 countries.

For the Cinéfondation series, launched in 1998 , short films from around the world are selected, including both animation and real- life films. The program is aimed at film students. The short film jury around Abderrahmane Sissako acted as the jury.

Semaine de la critique
In parallel to the award of the Golden Palm, the Semaine de la critique , which has existed since 1962 (until 2007 Semaine internationale de la critique ), is dedicated to discovering new talent. Organized by the Syndicat français de la critique de cinéma , only first films or second works by young directors compete. In the past, the competition consisted of seven feature films and seven short film works, which have been awarded various prizes since 1990. The “International Critics' Week” is accompanied by special screenings of numerous short films.

Quinzaine des réalisateurs
The side series Quinzaine des Réalisateurs (German: "Two weeks of directors") was launched in 1969 on the basis of the May riots that had taken place a year earlier and is organized by the Société des réalisateurs de films (SRF). Feature films (documentaries and feature films) as well as a large number of short films from all over the world will be shown without a prize being awarded. The opening film of the series was L'ombre des femmes by Philippe Garrel ; The graduation film is Dope by Rick Famuyiwa .

Caméra d'Or
The Caméra d'Or (“Golden Camera”) has been awarded since 1978 for the best debut film by a director, regardless of which section he is represented in. The 2015 president of the international jury is the French actress Sabine Azéma . She is supported by the jury members Delphine Gleize (director), Melvil Poupaud (actor), Claude Garnier (camerawoman), Didier Huck (representative of the film industry), Yann Gonzalez (director) and Bernard Payen (film critic).
