Vincent Lindon (born July 15, 1959 in Boulogne-Billancourt , Hauts-de-Seine department near Paris , France ) is a French film actor .

Life

The publisher's son studied music in New York for ten months in 1979 and then returned to France to turn to acting. In 1981 Vincent Lindon went on a national stage tour as a director with France's star comedian Coluche . Two years later, Lindon made his film debut.

After initially small roles, he was able to establish himself as a new screen idol in the 1990s. In quite different stories (dramas, melodramas, comedies, thrillers), Lindon played good-looking "whole guys", often masculine-bitter, but also always endowed with vulnerable sides. His film partners included almost the entire film elite in France: from Yves Montand to Alain Delon to Stéphane Audran , Sophie Marceau and Catherine Deneuve .

In 1989 Vincent Lindon received the Prix ​​Jean Gabin , which is awarded to promising young actors. He has been nominated several times for the César and finally in 2016 for his portrayal of a long-term unemployed in Stéphane Brizé's Der Wert des Menschen with the award in the category of best leading actor . Lindon had already received the Actor Award at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival for this role in 2015 .

Lindon had a relationship with Claude Chirac , daughter of future French President Jacques Chirac , in the 1980s . He was in a relationship with Princess Caroline of Monaco from 1990 to 1995 . In 1998 he married the French actress Sandrine Kiberlain , from whom he now lives separately. He has two children.
